Between Elsewhere and Here

Meet the Palins

Arianna Huffington wrote in her column this morning:

But good enough for what, exactly? After Thursday night, the only thing Palin proved herself good enough for is starring in her own reality show.

I think this is a fantastic idea. C-Span and VH1 can team up to produce a TV show about life as Alaska’s first female Governor. Watch as Sarah and her snowmobile-racing “First Dude” raise a family of five in wild arctic backdrop. Be there as Bristol marries Levi. Watch as Willow and Piper obsess over the latest High School Musical movie. Travel with Todd as he explores for oil with BP.

Imagine the kitchen table conversation! Sarah comes home after a long budget battle with the legislature only to find Todd covered head to toe in mud running around trying to find a bottle for Trig. And they could give half their proceeds from the show to Downs Syndrome research.

This is a great idea. Someone tell Palin that there will be life after the Presidential race and it’ll be good, good TV.

Cillizza is Pumped!

WaPo reporter (and heart throb of more than half of my office) Chris Cillizza is p-u-m-p pumped for tonight’s VP Debate. My bet is Biden pops a little Mozart before the debate and Palin rocks out to Flobots (sorry guys). Maybe a little “Handlebars“ before hand, Governor?

Palin Reads Everything!

Seriously. She reads, “all of them.”

The Palin

In Pittsburgh one can go to a number of local sandwich joints and order “The Roethlisberger,” which is a sandwich loaded with wholesome goodness like bacon, bbq sauce, ranch dressing, lettuce and tomato.

The Coolidge Corner Clubhouse (a former haunt of mine) in Boorkline, MA has “The Tim Wakefield,” which is really good ham and cheese sandwich.

So, it was this in mind, that over lunch today, we debated what would be in “The Sarah Palin” sandwich. The obvious answer was moose, but given Alaska’s relative location to DC, probably not the easiest thing to come by. Instead, we settled on a pulled pork sandwich with lots of tomato, but when it arrives on your plate, it’s a tuna fish sandwich.

Of course, you could only order by bowing down before the waiter and professing your deepest admiration for the sandwich.

RIP McCain'08 3.1.07 - 9.24.08

The McCain has become the pathological liar who – even when the truth is on their side – still feels the need to embellish, exaggerate and lie. Their spin is so out of control, McCain seems lost within his own campaign as if he’s being the script not in its entirety, not even page by page, but word by word.
