Between Elsewhere and Here

Self Anyization

Typealyzer gives a personality test to blogs. How does Between Elsehwere & Here stack up? Well, its personality type is ESTP (Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving) and says Typealyzer:

The Doers
The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

Fantastic.

the Fall of Leaves

The Way Back Machine doesn’t capture the history of this domain, in no small part because this space has been known by a number of names over the years. Back in the late 90’s I bought Navot.net followed by Navot.org and that’s where this all started. The original NavotDotNet was a dark maroon website with light khaki framing and “Navot” written in Helvetica bold with a star above the N. That site wasn’t much different than this new site, expect it was much fierier, personal and ill-informed (that last part might not have changed much).

It’s evolved dozens of times over the past decade. From the “web journal” written by a college freshmen it became a front for my freelance company Left Field Communications, a portfolio site, a literary blog called Between Elsewhere & Here, a blog about conflict (titled, oddly enough, the Fall of Leaves), a stomping ground for my political resume (birthplace of the CD logo) and a place for me to share recipes.

A few weeks ago I secretly relaunched the Navot.net/Doorley.org franchise, giving a sneak speak to those who follow me on Twitter. This site is a bit of everything from the old sites. You’ll find recipes here, along side commentary on my work in politics, thoughts on world events, cars, people, food, sports and whatever else is on my mind.

This is also a test-bed for tools, tricks and fanciness I hope to use on future projects. To see an example of this, click on the Comments link at the bottom of this post (and feel free to leave me a comment while you’re at it). A revamped portfolio is in the works that will combine a few different tools I hope to use for a few current and future clients. Better to perfect them here and now then when I’m rushing to meet a deadline.

So welcome to the all new Doorley.org. The leaves are changing, and so is my little website.

RIP McCain'08 3.1.07 - 9.24.08

The McCain has become the pathological liar who – even when the truth is on their side – still feels the need to embellish, exaggerate and lie. Their spin is so out of control, McCain seems lost within his own campaign as if he’s being the script not in its entirety, not even page by page, but word by word.

Benjamin Netenyahu basically steals the campaign website of Barack Obama. Or maybe Obama gave it to him to use. He is a friend of Israel, right?
